How to Hide Your Instagram Story From Someone Without Blocking Them

Hiding your story is different from blocking someone. They may still see your profile, posts, and messages.
You can hide your story from only one person, or from several people.
Instagram does not send a notification when you hide your story from someone.
Menu wording can vary slightly on iPhone and Android, but look for Hide story and live or story privacy settings.
If you want to see less from them instead, use mute. If you want to limit their interactions, use restrict.

Go back to Hide story and live from.
Find the person in the selected list.
Unselect them.
They will be able to see future stories again if your other privacy settings allow it.

Update Instagram and check the profile menu again. Some labels move between Privacy, Who can see your content, and story settings.

Hiding your story is meant for current and future story visibility. If a story was already viewed, hiding them later does not undo that view.
