Common problems
My file is still being created
That is normal for larger exports. Check again later. Facebook may also send a notification when the file is ready.
I cannot find the download button
The file may still be processing. Open Available files and check whether Facebook is asking for your password before the download starts.
The export is too large
Create a new export with a shorter date range, fewer categories, or lower media quality.
FAQ
What format should I choose?
HTML is easier to browse in a web browser. JSON is usually better if you want raw structured data.
Can I download only photos or messages?
Yes. Facebook usually lets you select specific categories before you create the file.
Is this the same as deleting my account?
No. Downloading your information only gives you a copy of your data. It does not delete anything from Facebook.
How long is the file available to download?
Usually only for a limited time. If the file expires, create a new export.
Official source note
Facebook says this tool is available in Your information and permissions inside Accounts Center, and the finished file appears under Available files for download.
